Northern Universities Beer Drinking Association - 21st May 2005
(A report by Mel Sullivan)

The Northern Universities Beer Drinking Association got up and running after an absence of far too many years. As this was the traditional Grudge Match between the girls and boys, everyone shot a Windsor. John was grumpily dispatched to London for a team managersí meeting (World University Games this summer) in the morning, leaving Brian to drive Hamish, Kev and Mel down.
Steve ceremonially opened and closed the event by shooting his ëtoilet brushí ñ a custom made arrow signed by Dundee as his leaving present.

He actually made about 30 yards with it ñ possibly further than his normal arrow with a Haribo on...

The Riverside weather was uncommonly kind to us ñ not much sun, but the wind only picked up for a wee while at 40 yards. Dundeeís ever-present bbq was available to all with meaty things to burn on it. Distance breaks were thoughtfully (thanks Tom!) re-named ëMel breaksí ñ i.e. the time it took Mel to walk to the pavilion and back. The only thing missing was the beer...

SGB whipped everyone, as we should! Mel had highest overall score (woo hoo, beating the compounds!!!), Kev beat Tom (?Clint?), Hamish pipped David Hall by 7 points and Brian put in a good score to come 4th overall. Our team (Mel, Brian & Kev) won a clown and Mel won a rather psychopathic looking plastic pigeon (oh joy)!

As this was the first girly round for the boys, all shot pbís, with at least two club records (Kev couldnít remember there being a club record for a gent recurve). Mel also shot a pb and club record. A very good day, topped off by a trip to the Bunion and a Chinese takeout. Hopefully theyíll invite us back next year.
