I joined SGB in 2001 when I got a new job that moved me to London, a place I said I would never live...

My archery career seems to be a string of years of not shooting at times.  I had a year off before joining SGB, shot (well?) for about two years and currently haven't shot (regularly) in almost another two years.  That said, my current project is slowly coming to a close and 2006 promises to be a new start for me - hopefully somewhere that supports archery!

I've been in Baku (the place with all the oil in Bond film "The World Is Not Enough") for a little over a year and a half now.  What am I doing here?  Retrieving the oil!  Whilst my my time out here has vastly improved my Russian language skills, the country appears to have no facilities what-so-ever for archers.

That said I did compete at the Skye Open Tournament again this year.  I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who is interested, although possibly not as the first time to pick up your bow in months.  It's a great week with lots of friendly people and fun events.  Maybe I'll see you there next year...

Post Note:  I've left Baku!  I'm now back in the UK office and so hopefully may be able to shoot again sometime soon.  Watch out everybody, it's anyone's guess if I can still get the arrows to go towards the targets....

What else have I been doing?  Erm, not much.  I was present at both indoor and outdoor BUSA championships in the guise of A.C.M.E. and I'm still the webmaster here, so I occasionally update the website.

 

On the odd occasion that I get to shoot I use a Hoyt Elan (a straight one!) with Borders fantastic Talisman Gold limbs, a Beiter longrod and Easton ACE 470's.  Or is it 430's?  As far as I can remember it was a nice set-up but it's been quite a while since I saw it...
